The Geography Department is the teaching and research unit responsible for coordinating the teaching of the areas of knowledge of Regional Geographical Analysis, Physical Geography and Human Geography in the Faculty of Humanities and other University Centres, in accordance with the teaching programme of the University of Oviedo, as well as supporting and promoting the teaching and research activities and initiatives of the teaching staff.

The department offers considerable teaching activity in other related degrees, Teaching, History, History of Art, Tourism or Topography and has been offering successive Third Cycle programmes, especially on territorial analysis, representation and planning.
