The Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón was created in 2010 as a result of the merger of the Centres that taught the degrees of Engineering –Industrial, Computer and Telecommunications– as well as Technical Engineering of the same branches. It currently offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in these branches, including the master’s degrees that give access to performing the corresponding regulated professions. More specifically, the school offers degrees in Data Science and Engineering, Industrial Organisation Engineering, Electric Engineering, Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering, Industrial Chemistry Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering of Industrial Technologies, IT Engineering and Telecommunications Technologies and Services Engineering. In addition, it also offers master’s degrees in Electrical Energy Conversion and Power Systems, in Mechatronic Engineering, in Energy Engineering, in Telecommunications Engineering, in Automation Engineering and Industrial Computing, in Industrial Engineering, in Computer Engineering and Erasmus Mundus in Mechatronic Engineering.
The School is located in Gijón’s Mile of Knowledge, a geographical area which, in addition to the University of Oviedo’s own facilities, brings together the Gijón Science and Technology Park, Laboral City of Culture, the Botanical Garden and the Cabueñes University Hospital.
The centre has been certified by ANECA for the implementation of a quality assurance system in accordance with the AUDIT programme aimed at the continuous improvement of student training, Certificate No. UCR-I 050/2020. In addition, on 10 March 2020, the Council of Universities approved the Institutional Accreditation of the Centre.
