INGENIUM Junior School: A Unique Experience of Learning and Exchange

In June 2023, the German and Italian partners of the INGENIUM Alliance hosted the first edition of the 10 Days. This initiative aims to bring together, twice a year, students and professors from the ten universities within the Alliance for two weeks of academic and cultural activities, including a Junior School for undergraduate students and a Senior School for master’s and doctoral students.

The first Junior School was an unforgettable adventure that took 30 undergraduate students to the German city of Karlsruhe, where the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), one of the INGENIUM universities, is located. There, the participants experienced an intense week and had the opportunity to learn about and discuss language, culture, and diversity in Europe.

The students had the opportunity to study the basics of the German language, explore health and well-being on campus, understand interculturality in Europe through group projects and presentations, and showcase their own universities at the Crossing Borders event. Additionally, they built an international network of contacts, received support from various mentors, and enjoyed the city of Karlsruhe through guided tours and cultural activities.

The INGENIUM Junior School was a success for both the organizing institution, HKA, and the participants, who highly appreciated the opportunity to connect, share, and learn with other members of the alliance.

INGENIUM will continue to offer innovative activities in the upcoming editions of the 10 Days. The next one is scheduled for early 2024 at the Munster University of Technology (Ireland) and the University of Crete (Greece).
