The University of Oviedo opens its Summer Science Campus

50 students of ESO and Bachillerato from 24 regions take part in this programme, which is intended to promote the scientific vocation among young people

The University of Oviedo opened the Summer Scientific Campus, a project included in the Campus of International Excellence and intended to bring science and students together. In the first edition, 50 students of ESO and Bachillerato are taking part. The Rector, Vicente Gotor, and the Regional Vice-Minister of Science and Education, José Luis Iglesias Riopedre, together with the Vice Rector for Students and Employment -Susana López Ares- and the Vice Rector for Research -Santiago García Granda- welcomed the students coming from 24 Spanish regions. This programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Innovation through the FECYT

The academic institution has organised the Scientific Campus on the basis of four projects related to the fields of the clusters of the Campus of International Excellence. The programme is managed by university lecturers in collaboration with secondary education teachers:

  • Chemistry in everyday life: ¿What can you do with it?
  • The climate change: A global challenge.
  • Electronic engineering in everyday life.
  • The geological paradise
