Technology Popularization Day at the Polytechnical School of Engineering of Gijón.

The session is dedicated to scientist Alan Turing, who will bring more than 200 seconday school and high school students from the region together next 28th February.

The Polytechnical School of Engineering of Gijón, together with the Foundation University of Oviedo, organizes for next 28th February, between 9.45 a.m and 13.50 p.m, the Technology Popularization Day. It is a session in which 200 seconday school and high school students from several centres of the region will participate. On this occasion, they will commemorate the centenary of the birth of the English researcher Alan Turing, considered to be one of the fathers of Computer Science.

The opening ceremony, which will be held at the Great Hall in the Multipurpose Building in the Campus of Gijón, will count on the presence of the Head of the Polytechnical School of Engineering of Gijón, HIlario López; the Vice-rector for IT and Communications of the University of Oviedo, Víctor Guillermo García; the Dean of the Official College of Computer Engineers of the Principality of Asturias, Ángel Retamar; the Dean of the Official College of Computer Technical Engineers of the Principality of Asturias, Óscar Luis Castro, and the General Manager of the ICT Cluster in Asturias, Alicia Veira.

The academic offer for the PSE of Gijón will be presented in the session. Also, Mickael Jauneau (IBM) will give the lecture "IBM: 100 años de Innovación". Following the prize awarding of the phtographic contest "II SEmana EPI" and the prize drawings for the Colleges of Computer Engineers and Computer Technical Engineers of the Principality of Asturias, the students will participate in guided activities developed in several laboratories at the School.
