The joint St Thomas Aquinas (Santo Tomás de Aquino in Spanish) and St Catherine of Alexandria (Santa Catalina de Alejandría) academic event will be held on Monday 25 January at 12 noon, presided over by the rector, Santiago Garcia Granda. Taking part will be María Río Presa, vice president and chief executive of Gilead Spain, who will speak about "Science and Innovation During Times of Pandemic", and the university's secretary general, Eva María Cordero. Due to the restrictions in place because of the health situation, the event will not be held in person. However, it can be followed live on the University of Oviedo's official YouTube Channel. Diplomas have already been awarded individually, and the associated photographs will be projected during the ceremony. These are the 2019-20 Degree Awards, the 2019-20 Special Faculty of Law Awards and the 2018-19 Extraordinary PhD Awards.
