This Master's Degree is primarily intended for Graduates in Biology, Medicine, Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology who are interested in assisted reproduction, whether human or animal, or in doing research in the field of Health Sciences. Furthermore, candidates must prove that they have an English language ability equivalent to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

    Professional Opportunities

This Master's Degree offers a high degree of specialization in Biology and Reproductive Technology. It also has a distinct professional approach that will allow students to apply to more specialized jobs. This Master's Degree covers advanced theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as aspects that offer a comprehensive training to graduates in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy or Nursing, providing students with the professional skills and capabilities that they need to succeed in an increasingly demanding labour market, in terms of qualifications and professional specialization. The high demand in assisted reproduction services has overwhelmed public hospitals whereas the private hospitals cannot meet the demands in the short term. Regarding the animal world, both in the stockbreeding sector and the conservation and protection of endangered species, whether wild or domestic, society increasingly demands the better use of resources, the conservation of the environment and an improvement in the sustainability of food supplies.

This Master's Programme consist of 60 ECTS credits divided in two terms. Students have to attend at least 80% of the classes in order to obtain the degree.

    MODULE: Internship (6 ECTS)

The period of external internships will be done in public and private entitites both in and outside Asturias, since our region does not offer enough places for every student to do their Practicum in Asturias. The election of the offered places will be done according to the average mark of the compulsory subjects taken by the students during the first term.

Currently, places are offered in the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) and SERIDA (Asturias), as well as in specialized centers in Santander, La Coruña, Valladolid, Badajoz or Madrid. Students may suggest, based on their preferences, other cities and Autonomous Communities where there are public or private centers specialized in reproduction (animal or human), in which case the Master's degree will try to reach a collaboration agreement to do the internships in said entity.
