The editorial committee of the Group of Universities G9 met in Santander chaired by the Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor

Genueve Ediciones, the first inter-university imprint in Spain, will publish soon three new titles from its editorial project of scientific quality. The works are the following: "Soldados de la fe o amantes del progreso: catolicismo y modernidad en Vizcaya (1890-1923)", by Joseba Louzao Villar, "Paisajes de antropología urbana", by María Cátedra, and "Lengua y experiencia en la formación del movimiento obrero español", by Jesús de Felipe Redondo.

The imprint, promoted by the public universities integrating the Group 9, means an enterprising experience which was born in 2010 with the main goal of leading the production and dissemination of knowledge within the Spanish editorial scene. For that, it aims to edit its scientific and teaching production in accordance with the most demanding parameters of scientific rigour and external assessment. Thus, it seeks guaranteeing scientific acknowledgement by the different assessing bodies, offering lecturers and researcher a space for the dissemination of their works with all quality and impact guarantees.

The editorial committee in charge of the "Genueve Ediciones" project has held a meeting chaired by the Rector of the University of Oviedo and half-yearly President of the G9, Vicente Gotor. The Rector of the University of Cantabria, José Carlos Gómez, also attended the opening ceremony. The Director of the Editorial of the University of Cantabria, Belmar Gándara, played host to the representatives of the institutiones which are part of the Group. In the meeting, which was held at the Library of the International Technology Centre and Port Administration (CITAP), in La Cerda Lighthouse in the Peninsule of La Magdalena, the participants dealt with some issues related to the website of the imprint and defined future projects in book distribution, promotion and marketing.

Knowledge dissemination

The first collection launched by "Genueve Ediciones"- "Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades"- focuses in the areas of knowledge in which the publication of monographs is one of the axes of research and academic activity, at the same time that the university editorial tasks in these fields are less recognised. The initiative shows the importance of gathering the capacities from different universities and their editorials in a common project, boosting at the same time the expansion and visibility of the Group associated to a quality, modernity and innovation image. The G9 is formed by the public universities of Cantabria, Castille La Mancha, Extremadura, la Rioja, Navarra, Oviedo, Vasque Country and Zaragoza.
