The University of Oviedo collaborates with the Spanish Association Against Cancer

Next Thursday, 3 May, several desks will be placed at the different campuses to collaborate with the collection.

The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, has received this morning the representatives of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Asturias, Cristina Bescós Menéndez de la Granda and María Dolores González de Mesa, who were accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Students, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz.

The Asturian academic institution will collaborate with the AECC in a collection which will take place next 3 May at the campuses in Oviedo, where several information desks will be placed. The students will be in charge of encouraging their partners and lecturers to collaborate with the initiative. "We have collaborated in previous years and the truth is that the youngsters' response was really good. Most of us unfortunately have first-hand experience and are concerned with it", pointed out Cristina Bescós, Chairwoman of the regional assembly of AECC in Asturias.

For his part, Vicente Gotor showed his satisfaction with the University of Oviedo for getting involved in such important social tasks "and that our students explicitly show their solidarity". Likewise, he reiterated the institution's interest in continuing working with these social causes.

Next Thursday there will be collection desks at the Faculties of Medicine, Economics and Business, Teacher Training, IT Engineering Schools and the Humanities Campus.
