The team from Aramo High School has won this morning the first edition of UNIGΣNIOS contest, an initiative organised by the Knowledge Transfer Office of the University of Oviedo and sponsored by FECYT and La Caixa Foundation. The final took place this morning in the Historic Building, where Padre Feijoo High School from Gijón and Valle de Aller High School from Moreda obtained the second and third positions, whereas Monte Naranco High School got the fourth position.
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, presented the participants with the prizes and encouraged them to continue with their interest in science in order to develop a brilliant career in the field of research.
The winning team, consisting of Francisco Fernández, Miguel Recio and Darío de la Fuente, were given an iPad, whereas the second ones received an iPod and the third ones a microscope.
The ten participating teams, made up of students from high school, have dealt, in two days, with different tests on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geology and Technology. UNIGΣNIOS aims to bring research and innovation closer to students by using entertaining formats and evaluating their knowledge with classical board games such as Trivial, Tabú or the Science Alphabet Game, a peculiar version of Pasapalabra.
