This morning, the Rector, Vicente Gotor, has received the winners of the regional phase of the Mathematical Olympiad in his office. The competitors will participate in the National Finals taking place in Santader. Darío de la Fuente García (Áramo Secondary School), Andrés Souto Suárez (Jovellanos Secondary School) and Rubén Cantón Casado (Elisa and Luis Villamil SEcondary School) were accompanied by Professor Santos González, vice- President of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, which organizes the Olympiad, and Antonia Salas, lecturer in the Department of Statistics. The vice-Rector for Students and Employment, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz, also attended the event.

The Rector encouraged the three students to complete their education at the University of Oviedo, "because here we always want the best ones" and wished them good luck in the national phase in Santander.
