The participants used a tool designed by researchers of the University of Oviedo to set up the game
Driver Slug is a platform game aimed at overcoming obstacles and and moving towards a final goal. This is the winning proposal of the Android mobile games contest held by the School of Computer Engineering of the University of Oviedo on the occasion of the festivity of Saint Ábaco. The game was created by Miguel Ángel González, student of the School of Computer Engineering, who won an Asus Nexus 7 tablet, with Android OS.
The contest had the collaboration of the MDE-RG, Model Driven Engineering Research Group and the project Gade4all. On January, 16 and 17, a beta version of the tool developed within the Project Gade4all to design their own videogame was available for students. The tool has been developed by the group MDE-RG of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Oviedo.
The tool does not require any technical or programming knowledge and it may be helpful to design different types of videogames easily and quickly: puzzle, trivial, strategies, platforms, etc.
The games designed by the participants were assessed by an Expert Committee. The first two finalists of the contest were Daniel Suárez Martínez, with Real Coward and Diego Mezquita Freijoó, with Pepins Adventures, who received their corresponding diplomas.
