An international conference at the University of Oviedo brings more than 100 experts in dynamical systems together

The dynamical systems have applications for the exploitation of biological resources, the meteorology, the spacial exploration, the epidemic control or financial models, among other spheres.

This Monday, 3 September, it has been opened, at the NH Hotel in Gijón, the International Conference "Dynamical Systems: 100 years after Poincaré", which will bring more than 100 experts in the field of synamic systems together in Asturias until next Friday, 7. The Vice-Rector for Research and Campus of International Excellence of the University of Oviedo, Mª Paz Suárez Rendueles, and the President of the Conference Organising Committee, Santiago Ibáñez, took part in the opening ceremony.

In the conference. organised by the Group of Dynamical Systems of the University of Oviedo (Department of Mathematics), take part researchers from different European countries as well as from USA China, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, etc., who, for five days, will make known and discuss new developments and approaches related the topics dealt with, specially those closer to real world issues.

The conference is held to commemorate the centenary of the French mathematician and philosopher Henri Poincaré' death (1854-1912), one of the greatest philosophers in modern times for his contribution to solve the different problems arising from the theory of the functions, differential equations and celestial mechanics.

The importance of the dynamical systems, which owe so much to Poincaré, is not limited to Mathematics, but also to other areas of knowledge such as Physics, Medicine, Chemistry, Biology and Economics. Their applications include the exploitation of biological resources, the meteorology, the spacial exploration, the epidemic control, information transfer and financial models.
