The Assembly of the CRUE ratifies a document against the decree of urgent measures to rationalize public spending.
The Rectors of the Spanish Universities have rejected the Royal Decree- Law of urgent measures to rationalise the public spending in education, among them the increase in university fees, and have demanded the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, José Ignacio Wert, that he urgently convenes the University Council to discuss these issues.
The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) has held a meeting this morning in Murcia in which the Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, was present. The Rectors ratified a document approved by the Expanded Standing Committee in which, among other issues, the procedure followed by the Minister and the arguments which defend such measures are rejected. This document also mantains that "we will not improve our university system in this way".
