The program includes a retrospective exhibition about the team, friendly matches against the Real Sporting and the Real Oviedo and a fraternal meal.
The football team of the University of Oviedo is currently 50 years old and the Asturian academic institution will celebrate this important anniversary with a complete program of events. The Uni's golden wedding will be celebrated from Monday 14 May onwards with the opening of the exhibition entitled50 years of university football.
The exhibition will be open until Friday, 19 May, in the Exhibition Hall of the Cultural centre LAUDEO (C/ San Francisco, 1). In order to have a retrospective glance to the 50 years of history of the club, a hundred photographies bear witness of the generations who have been part of the Uni. For months, the people responsible for the organziation have contacted former football players, managers, fans and journalists who have supported the team all these years to ask them for the personal photo rights transfer.
The exhibition will show some of the most outstanding trophies won by the team in all these 50 years such as the Spanish University Championship, the Third Division League Championship or the Emma Cuervo Trophy. Visitors will also see the evolution of Uni's strip throughout these years with the exhibition of some of the university teams' most emblematic shirts.
Matches and fraternal meal
The football is the main protagonist in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the University. Thus, next Friday 18 May, from 18 pm, on the Saint Gregory Stadium (Campus of Los Catalanes), the first team of the Real Sporting of Gijón and the University of office will face each other in a match.
On Saturday, 19 May, senior players from the Uni will play against former football players of the Real Oviedo, from 11.30 am, on Saint Gregory Stadium too. A fraternal meal will bring the celebration to a perfect end: former players, managers and other people linked to the university team will enjoy the encounter which celebrates de 50 years of the university team.
