The University of Oviedo organizes the first Summer Camp focused on Humanities
This is a pioneering initiative in Spain, which will be held on June 6-17 in Gijón, organized by the Campus of International Excellence and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters
The University of Oviedo organizes for the first time a Summer Camp focused on Humanities for secondary school and baccalaureate students. This is a pioneering initiative in Spain, and it aims to bring prospective university students closer to the field of art and humanities, and promote specific skills that facilitate their access to university. The project is organized by the Campus of International Excellence and the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, with the collaboration of the City Hall of Gijón.
The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Campus of International Excellence, Paz Suárez Rendueles, and the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, Cristina Valdés, have presented today the course program, which has been designed by lectures from different fields of knowledge of the Campus of Humanities of the University of Oviedo.
The first Summer Camp focused on Humanities will be held on June 6-17, both inclusive, at the Laboral City of Culture in Gijón (in the facilities of the Jovellanos Faculty of Commerce, Tourism and Social Sciences). There are 40 places available for students in 4º ESO or 1º de Baccalaureate. Registration fees are 120 euros, which include teaching, meals and necessary material to develop the different activities. The application deadline will be open from May 25 to June 13 and the registration process may be formalized on the website http://campushumanidades.uniovi.es. Places will be awarded by strict order of registration and the student admitted shall formalize registration payment between 22 and 30 of June.
Lecturers of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters have elaborated a program of activities which will deal with competences related to communication and discussion will analyze some important artistic symbols and will try to explain pop and rock languages. Geography, literature, history or philosophy will become relevant with different formats, very attractive for the students in different workshops.
