A team led by Doctor Francisco Parra, awarded for their innovative work in the field of animal health
The prize awarded by the Spanish Technology Platform for Animal Health provides recognition to their studies related to the rabbit hemorrhagic disease, developed in the University Institute for Biotechnology of Asturias of the University of Oviedo
The Spanish Technology Platform for Animal Health (Vet+i) has awarded the fourth Isabel Mínguez Tudela Prize to Innovation in Animal Health to the work entitled Identification and characterization of the new variant of viral hemorrhagic disease of rabbits (RHDVb). New diagnoses and vaccines, carried out by Doctor Francisco Parra Fernández and his team of the University Institute for Biotechnology of Asturias of the University of Oviedo. The award provides recognition to the best transferable result in R+D+i in the field of animal health in our country.
The awarding ceremony will be held in the framework of the VII Annual Conference of the Vet+I Platform, on June 3 in Madrid. For the evaluation, the jury took into account some criteria like the orientation towards the development of products, methods or services which give answers to the demands of society, the collaboration public-private to obtain results, effective transfer of such results and their exploitation by public entities, the promotion of internationalization of results and the opening of foreign markets as well as the participation of young researchers younger than 35.
The prize awarded by Vet+i aims to recognize, encourage and promote R+D+i in the field of animal health in the framework of competitiveness, internationalization, economic growth and job placement; that is, able to materialize the social benefits of science in our field.
With this prize, Vet+i honours the figure of Doctor Mínguez Tudela for her inestimable work as the person responsible for research in animal health in the European Commission and her crucial contribution to the creation of the systems of Technology Based Platforms in the European Union.
