An entrepreneurial project based on 3D printing is the winner of the VII Contest of Business Ideas of the University of Oviedo, whose final was held today in the Aula Magna of the Historical Building. David Corte García, Óscar Vallejo Álvarez and Cristian Murias San Teodoro, students of the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón, are the creators of this idea and have supported the feasibility of this business idea before the jury. The first prize of this contest is endowed with 3.000 euros.

 

The second prize of this contest was awarded to Diego Ruiz Sánchez for his idea consisting of a new product to light barbecues, called Coa-Coa. Graduated in Commerce and Marketing, this student was also awarded with the Congeniality Award, according to the votes of the attendees to this event. Finally, the jury awarded the third prize to the project Okappi, an idea promoted by Julián Mora Campa, student from Commerce and Marketing, who presented an idea of hand-made furniture production. 

 

Sportswear for extreme sports, an app that manages film shootings or a counselling and training agency are some of the ideas that entrepreneurs presented. A total of 63 recent graduates of the University of Oviedo presented their proposals to participate in the seventh edition of the university contest and 12 of them made it to the finals, after working on their ideas for months, alongside with a tutor at the University and a mentor at the Association of Young Entrepreneurs.

 

The jury was made up of Santiago Álvarez, Vice-Chancellor for Economic Planning, Agreements and Contracts; Agustín Iglesias Caunedo, Mayor of Oviedo;  Esteban García-Canal, director of the University Institute for Business, María Elisa Sánchez, on behalf of the General Direction for Commerce; and Cristina Fernández, secretary of AGEE.
