The area of Sports and Health has programmed a total of 111 courses of 24 different disciplines and has a total of 150 athletes in affiliated competitions
The University of Oviedo presented this morning its offer of sports courses and activities that will take place throughout the academic year in the different campuses of the Asturian academic institution. The Area of Sports and Health has programmed a total of 111 courses of 24 different sports disciplines.
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor; the general director of Sports of the Principality, José Ramón Tuero; the councilor of Sports of the Town Council of Gijón, Pedro Barbillo, and the delegate of Sports and Health, Miguel del Valle, have been in charge of presenting to the public the offer of sports of the University, alongside the representatives of the enterprises and institutions that sponsor the activities.
During the presentation of the sports course, athlete Roberto Marrón was given a small homage after having won two silver medals during the latest Junior European Championship in open track for deaf people.
Around 111,000 people attended the different sports facilities of the University to participate in some of the activities proposed. Moreover, the academic institution has affiliated athletes in 8 different disciplines and around 2,000 students compete in one of the internal tournaments held between teams of the University.
Both the Rector, Vicente Gotor, and Miguel del Valle thanked the support given by enterprises and institutions to university sports and highlighted the relevance of promoting sports values as part of a healthy lifestyle for university students.
