Transportation

University students and visitors coming to the University of Oviedo have multiple combinations available for reaching Asturias and travelling about the region and between campuses. Students also enjoy special advantages and discounts.

The public transit network in Asturias enables passengers to enjoy a wide range of schedules and options for travel around the region. The Transport Consortium of Asturias (CTA) has a Student Transport Smart Card, either a monthly or ten-trip pass, which offers students a 10% discount on their trips.

The university campuses have an extensive network of public transport links. An exclusive student transport smart card with special discounts is available to students.

The same Consortium provides the University Centre Bus service which communicates the university campuses with Oviedo, Gijón and Aviles, making stops to pick up and drop off passengers in their cities of origin for trips to campus. Since 2006, any passenger can use these services, paying with the CTA Student Transport Smart Cards as well as with any other type of 10 Pass (Bono 10) or CTA monthly pass.

The University of Oviedo's commitment to sustainability and the environment is evident in its sustained commitment to public transport and its full collaboration with the local authorities in charge of mobility policies. In recent years, the use of bicycles for travelling to and from campuses within the same city has also been fostered by installing bike stands. Electric car use has been encouraged as well.

Links between Asturias and the rest of the Peninsula offer the possibility of travelling by plane, train or coach. If you decide to use your own vehicle, the region can be accessed by motorways and secondary roads with outstanding views along the way.
