Scientific research and interuniversity cooperation programmes (AECID)

The University of Oviedo participates in scientific cooperation and research programmes between Spain and developing countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Projects presented should be aimed at the cross-cutting Spanish policy on cooperation: social inclusion and the fight against poverty, the promotion of human rights and democratic governability, gender for development, environmental sustainability and respect for cultural diversity.

Social inclusion, the fight against poverty and the promotion of human rights are at the core of the projects funded by AECID and the University of Oviedo.

Through its actions, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) contributes to the strengthening of academic and scientific institutions. Its projects are currently carried out in countries like Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Uruguay, Venezuela, Haiti, Angola, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and the Philippines.

All programme actions are designed following the guidelines of the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda.
