    Access Requirements:

    In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

    This Master's Course is intended for Graduates in Engineering and for Technical Engineers, although others Engineers and Graduates in Sciences or in any other related area will also be considered as long as they are interested in mechatronics and willing to develop their professional career in a multinational and multicultural environment. However, those students who do not have enough training to follow the classes will not be admitted. This includes Engineers and Technical Engineers who do not have specific training in mechanics and electronics, such as Forest Engineers, Agricultural Engineers, Chemical Engineers, etc.

    Other Engineers, Technical Engineers, Graduates in Computing, Telematics and Telecommunications will only be admitted if there are places available, which have not been covered by students with a more suitable training. This also applies to Graduates in Physics specialized in Electronics, Mining, Civil Engineering, etc.

    In all cases, candidates are required to have knowledge of mechatronics and electronics at graduate level, as well as knowledge of at least two of the languages of the consortium: German, Spanish and French, since classes will be taught in the local language.

    Candidates are also required to have oral and written communication skills in the languages commonly used in the field of international scientific research, and interest in understanding and discovering different ways of solving problems, and the capacity to carry out teamwork and to establish relationships with people from other cultures.

    Attendance required
    • First term: Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 2:30pm.
    • Second term: optional subjects, one day per week from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

    Professional Opportunities

    This Master's Degree provides students with the scientific and technical background they need to design mechatronic systems. The training includes basic subjects – mechanics, electronics, automation, optics manufacturing and computing – and technological aspects related to these systems. It also takes into account cross training and international vocation, an therefore it includes a great number of seminars and the possibility of extending their language competence. A variety of teaching methodologies, especially project-based teaching is also included.

    This MSc aims to offer a joint perspective and to ensure that students do not see each discipline (mechanics, electronics and automation) as an independent block, but rather as something they are able to combine so that the result is a complete mechatronic design. To a large extent, the Master's degree in Mechatronic Engineering of the University of Oviedo is co-ordinated with the European MSc in Mechatronics and Micro-mechatronic Systems (EU4M).
