    General Information

    Access Requirements:

    In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

    This master is intended for graduates in the field of telecommunications, computer science or the industrial field as well as for professionals with proven experience in this area.

    The most appropriate profiles to access this programme are:

    • Telecommunication Engineering (specialty telematics).

    Professional Opportunities

    This Master's Degree trains professionals who are able to develop the full potential of new technologies related to industrial production, from the development and engineering of advanced automation systems to the design of plant information management systems, monitoring systems and complex quality control systems, as well as the application of Information and Communication Technologies in industrial facilities at all levels.

    Students who successfully complete this Master's Programme will be experts in those fields and will be able to work in companies, either regional, national or international, related to industrial production, engineering or technology that need qualified professionals with this specific profile.

    The Master's Programme is designed to guarantee an advanced training in all the programme areas and it provides specific specialization either in Advanced Automation or in Advanced Supervision depending on the interests or needs of each student.

    In Advanced Automation, students will acquire advanced training related to the analysis and design of complex automation systems or systems with restrictions in the field of security, availability and reliability.

    p>In Advanced Supervision students will acquire advanced training related to the application of computational systems, modelling techniques and data analysis, as well as to industrial processes supervision with immediate application to industrial inspection and quality control.



    This Master is organise din 3 terms, has a total of 90 ECTS credits and is divided in the following seven modules:


    1. Additional background training (12 ECTS, students must choose 6 ECTS)
    2. Common technologies (36 ECTS)
    3. Advanced automation (9 ECTS that if chosen, students are exempt from module 4)
    4. Advanced supervision (9 ECTS that if chosen, students are exempt from module 3)
    5. Advanced supervision (9 ECTS that if chosen, students are exempt from module 3)
    6. Internship (12 ECTS)
    7. Master's Thesis (18 ECTS)

    During the first term, students will complete the first module as well as 24 ECTS credits from the second module. During the second term, students will complete the remaining credits form the second module as well as module 3 or 4 (students must chose one specialization) and module 5. During the third term, students will complete the internship period and the Master's Thesis.

    Through a practical implementation of the knowledge gained in the Master's Programme, students will gain a sustainable learning which will help develop a significant set of laboratory practices through real equipment and advanced tools that show specific problems and whose progressive solution will finally allow the general integration of all the subsystems.

    Different collaboration agreements have been established with top-tier companies in several fields (production, equipment manufacturers, software developers, engineering and supplying companies, etc.) so that they not only provide their expertise and experience through seminars and site visits, but also supervise internship and Master's Thesis related to the Master's field.


    MODULE 1:

    The Academic Committee will decide which subject must each student take:

    • Industrial Computer Systems (6 ECTS). If the student has previous training in industrial engineering or related areas.
    • Process automation and control (6 ECTS). If the student has previous training in Information and Communication Technologies.

    • Development of Industrial Software (6 ECTS)
    • Industrial Inspection Systems (9 ECTS)
    • Advanced Technologies of System Integration (6 ECTS)
    • Industrial processes and plants (6 ECTS)
    MODULE 3 (Specialization on Advanced Automation):
    • Automation advanced methodologies (3 ECTS)
    • Security in the automation of plants and processes (6 ECTS)
    MODULE 4 (Specialization on Advanced supervision):
    • 3D Computer vision (4,5 ECTS)
    • Intelligent Techniques for Industrial Inspection (4,5 ECTS)
    MODULE 5 (Optional: students must choose 3 subjects or 9 ECTS)
    • Home automation and building automation (3 ECTS) (Available for the academic course 2012-2013)
    • Data visualization (3 ECTS) (Available for the academic course 2012-2013)
