    Access Requirements:

    In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

    This Master's Programme is intended for Graduates in Biology and Biotechnology or equivalent, such as Forest, Agricultural Engineers or Graduates in Environmental Sciences who are interested in acquiring training related to the recent advances in the field of plant Biodiversity and its applications to conservation and sustainable resource management.

    In order to be accepted into the Master's Degree, applicants must achieve a minimum score of 40 points, according to the following criteria:

    1. Academic record: up to 40 points.
    2. Relation of the Undergraduate Degree of origin: up to 20 points.
    3. Related professional experience and stays at research centers: up to 20 points.
    4. Complementary formation (other Degrees, courses, languages, etc.): up to 10 points.
    5. Grants obtained, congresses and articles published in scientific journals: up to 10 points.

    Professional Opportunities

    The Master's aim is to train professionals and researchers in the field of Plant Biotechnology, providing them with the scientific background and the biotechnological tools that are essential for the management and conservation of plant resources, the sustainable management of agriforest systems and products, the production of quality plants and basic and R&D and innovation research, and specially the specific research designed to increase productivity and the adaptation to climate change, including ethical and social implications. This Master also provides students with basic training on legal aspects and management of biotechnological companies.

    It aims to prepare professionals and researchers to work in R&D and innovation departments or to create their own biotechnology-based company, to develop research activities in the field of plant biotechnology or to apply biological techniques to plant conservation and the sustainable management of resources.


    The Master's Programme is divided into four modules consisting of mandatory and optional subjects and the Master's Thesis. The student can freely choose the 9 optional credits, regardless of the module to which the subjects offered belong.

    The students may choose to be awarded a double degree with the MSc in Forest Sciences of the University of Concepción (Chile) by taking 30 ECTS credits at the host University (including the Master's Thesis) during the second term, according to the conditions set out in the specific agreement.
