    Access Requirements:

    In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

    This Master's Course is intended for Graduates in Engineering and for Technical Engineers, although others Engineers and Graduates in Sciences or in any other related area will also be considered as long as they are interested in mechatronics and willing to develop their professional career in a multinational and multicultural environment. However, those students who do not have enough training to follow the classes will not be admitted. This includes Engineers and Technical Engineers who do not have specific training in mechanics and electronics, such as Forest Engineers, Agricultural Engineers, Chemical Engineers, etc.

    Other Engineers, Technical Engineers, Graduates in Computing, Telematics and Telecommunications will only be admitted if there are places available, which have not been covered by students with a more suitable training. This also applies to Graduates in Physics specialized in Electronics, Mining, Civil Engineering, etc.

    Students admitted to the present Master's Course are required to have knowledge of mechanics and/or electronics at graduate level as well as knowledge of at least two of the languages of instruction (German, Spanish and French), since classes will always be taught in the local language.

    Additional requirements:

    Candidates are also required to have oral and written communication skills in the languages commonly used in the field of international scientific research, and interest in understanding and discovering different ways of solving problems, and the capacity to carry out teamwork and to establish relationships with people from other cultures.

    Professional Opportunities

    Mechatronics is a science that seeks to integrate electronic intelligence into the mechanic system, a profound revolution in the design and optimization of new equipments, since this new "discipline" combines and integrates other disciplines (Mechanics, Electronics, Automation and Computing) that are traditionally juxtaposed. All this turns Mechatronics into a cross-competence that needs to be developed in all types of industries.

    The training offered enables future engineers to acquire interdisciplinary competences related to methodology, tools design, modelling and simulation, process control and new technologies, but also a deep knowledge of basic technologies that are a fundamental part of Mechatronics (Mechanics, Hydraulics, Electronics, Computing, Photonics…), as well as knowledge of sensors, actuators and control laws.

    That is why Engineers in Mechatronics have a different point of view from other experts when dealing with problems, due to their extensive knowledge on Mechanics, Electronics, Optics, Automation, etc. which enables them to work as experts (depending on their own vocation) or coordinate multidisciplinary work teams.

    The main objective of this Master's course is to enable Engineers in Mechatronics to work as experts, system managers or co-ordinators in this field. This can be achieved due to the following educational aims and competences of this programme:

    • Scientific/technical work related to Mechatronics, including design, modelling and simulation.
    • Multidisciplinary cooperation in groups with the aim to solve complex Mechatronic tasks.
    • Capacity to quickly adapt themselves and face different problems and tasks in different fields, such as Electronics, Mechanics, Control, etc.
    • Capacity to communicate with people from other countries in different languages.


    Este Máster está constituido por cuatro cuatrimestres, tres de formación académica y uno final de Trabajo Fin de Máster, con un total de 120 créditos ECTS, impartidos por:  Universidad de Oviedo, Ecole Nationale Superieure de Mecanique et des Microtechnique (France);  Hochschule Karksruhe-Technick und Wirtschaft (Germany),  Ivanovo State Power Engineering University, Ivanovo, Rusia (ISPU), Universidad del Nilo, El Cairo, Egipto (NILE)

    Todas las clases son impartidas en la lengua de cada una de las instituciones. Los estudiantes deben cursar el primer año del Máster en la institución de origen. El segundo año debe ser cursado en una de las otras instituciones del consorcio. Las asignaturas del primer año están coordinadas entre las tres instituciones, por lo que los contenidos del primer curso son idénticos.

    Los dos primeros cuatrimestres constan de 30 créditos ECTS cada uno. Los otros cuatrimestres se organizan de manera que se facilita al alumno la posibilidad de trasladarse para hacer el segundo año en alguno de los otros países con los que hay convenio, bajo unas condiciones preestablecidas para permitir una mejor organización de la formación en las tres instituciones.

    Además, en cada país se seleccionan las asignaturas que mejor permitan que el alumno adquiera conocimientos relacionados con los campos en los que cada una de las instituciones es más fuerte. El programa define así 72 créditos de asignaturas optativas (24 en cada país del Consorcio EU4M) susceptibles de ser modificadas cada año para conseguir el objetivo señalado. A modo de orientación se puede indicar que las asignaturas impartidas en los últimos años son las que se indican a continuación.
