  • PhD Programme in Geology

    General Information

    Presentation: This PhD Programme offers highly advanced research training in different areas of Geology. The wide range of lines of research that are specified on the next section will allow students to choose the most appropriate area of specialization for their objectives. In addition, this programme enables students to develop communication skills and transfer their knowledge.

    Candidates' profile: Holders of a Bachelor Degree, Graduates or Engineers (duration of studies no less than 4 full academic years) in scientific and technical fields, preferably in the Earth Sciences area and who also hold a Master's Degree or have completed 60 ECTS credits or hold a Certificate of Research Proficiency in PhD Studies or the Advanced Studies Diploma obtained as a result of having completed an Official Master's Degree or PhD Studies on the field of Geology at any University that provides a Degree in Geology which enables students to directly access PhD Studies in that University.

    • Geology (Stratigraphy, Palaeontology, Palaeography…) from the Jurassic of Northern Spain.
    • Fossil sedimentary systems: processes, deposit geometry and reservoirs.
    • Mineral deposits in the Iberian Peninsula.
    • Genesis and modelling of deposits and mineralisation associated to pegmatitis and magmatic and magmatic-hydrothermal processes.
    • Genesis and modelling of veint deposits of uranium and base elements.
    • Petrology and petrogeny of igneous and metamorphic rocks of the Hesperian Massif.
    • Characterization and petrophysical interpretation of rock materials.
    • Alteration, durability and preservation of rock and stone materials.
    • Water crystallization and experimental geochemistry.
    • Geology applied to Archaeology.
    • Geological and mining heritage.
    • Climate change recorded in marine sediments and stalagmites.
    • Marine paleoproductivity.
    • Structures in the ductile-fragile transition area in the earth crust.
