    Access Requirements:

    In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

    To be eligible, students must comply with the following requirements:

    • Hold a teaching degree in any discipline. Graduates in other fields can apply and they will be taken into consideration if they wish to specialize in the Integrated Teaching of the English Language and Contents in Infant and Primary Education.
    • Be competent in English. Students must prove that they have an English language ability equivalent to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
    • Have an interest for education and foreign language learning.
    Modality:
    Blended learning: distance learning combined with part-time attendance.
    Schedule:
    Tuesday and Thursday, normally from 5:00pm to 9:00pm

    Professional Opportunities

    This Master's Course has a distinct professional approach and its main goal is the training of qualified staff so that they can work in the ever increasing number of institutions that incorporate integrated teaching of foreign languages and contents in our education system. This Master's Degree trains students so that they are fully effective in teaching the curricular contents of Infant and Primary Education in English at the bilingual sections of the aforementioned institutions using the CLIL method. Graduates of this Master's Course will reach or surpass level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

    Syllabus

    This Master's Programme follows a blended learning programme that combines distance learning with traditional classroom teaching. Students must attend classes twice a week (except if otherwise required due to holidays and the schedule of visiting teachers) and all subjects, except for the optional ones, will be taught in English by teachers from both, the University of Oviedo and the Institute of Education of London.

    This Master's Course consists of six modules:

    • First Module: Communication skills for teaching in bilingual institutions (B2 level): oral and written skills (20 ECTS)
    • Second Module: Methodology for teaching/learning the English language and contents (9 ECTS)
    • Third Module: Curricular content and bilingual education (25 ECTS)
    • Fourth Module: Optional subjects. Students will have to choose 2 subjects (6 ECTS)
    • Fifth Module: Insternship in institutions with bilingual sections or in the United Kingdom through the Erasmus Internship Scholarship (12 ECTS)
    • Sixth Module: Master's Thesis (18 ECTS)
