    Access Requirements:

    Any person who has an official Spanish university Degree, or a Degree given by a higher education institution of the EHEA that enables the student to start a Master's Degree in their country of origin. Moreover, students with a verified foreign Degree (outside of the EHEA), or not verified, as long as the level of formation received is equivalent to that of an Undergraduate Degree and only if the Degree allows the student to start a Master's Degree in their country of origin.

    The most appropriate profile for this Master's Degree is that of a Bachellor, Diploma or Graduate, preferably in the fields of experimental, technological and biological sciences, although it admits and promotes the participation of students coming from the economic and social fields who are interested in the food sector. It is especially important that the candidates are capable and motivated, regardless of their prior formation, in their approach to this field. Some markers of interest may be: previous experiences in the industrial or research sector; thematical proximity to the food industry and, in general, the interest show in practice to acquire additional knowledge and to work in the food sector.

    Professional Opportunities

    Graduates will have a professional profile that will allow them to work as technicians in the food industry or in official bodies related to food, or they will have developed a research profile to continue a research career in the fields of food and food production.

    Syllabus

    Subjects are distributed in 4 bi-monthly sets and the formation offers is based on the following modules:

    • Biological and biochemical area
    • Technological area
    • Security, analysis and quality area
    • Socio-economic area
    • Experimental area
    • External internships

    Subjects

    First semester (18 ECTS credits)

    • Microbial Alterations and Diseases related to Food(3 ECTS)
    • Control and Improvement of Primary Food Production (3 ECTS)
    • Design of Systems for Processing in the Food Industry (3 ECTS)
    • Economic Management and Marketing in the Food Industry (3 ECTS)
    • Human Nutrition: New Food for New Times (3 ECTS)
    • Instrumental Techniques Applied to Chemical and Sensorial Analysis of Food (3 ECTS)

    Second Semester (18 ECTS credits)

    • Teams and Bioreactors in the Food Industry (3 ECTS)
    • Food Industries (3 ECTS)
    • Legal Framework of Food (3 ECTS)
    • Security, Hygiene and Food Quality (3 ECTS)
    • Garbage and Residue Treatment in the Food Industry (3 ECTS)

    Elective Subjects (Choose one out of the three offered subjects):

    • Design of Experiments (3 ECTS)
    • Design of Processes and Production (3 ECTS)
    • Molecular Techniques in Biotechnology and Food Safety (3 ECTS)

    Experimental Module

    Methodology of Experimentation on Foods (6 ECTS). This subject will take place in 6 laboratories throughout the academic year.

    External Internships (6 ECTS)

    They will take place during a period of 2 months in enterprises and institutions of the food sector of the region throughout the course.

    Master's Thesis (12 ECTS)

    It will be a personal work that will be assigned during the first two month of the course and which will be presented in June or July.
