    Access Requirements:

    Graduates in the scientific and technical field, such as industrial engineering, mining engineering, physics, telecommunications, etc. and more precisely:

    1. Higher and Technical Engineering or Degree in Engineering.
    2. Undergraduate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Chemical Sciences, with a work experience of at least two years, related to welding engineering.

    Past experience must be certified at the time of enrollment.

    In any case, the Office of the Vice-Rector in charge of this matter may authorize a partial enrollment for students who plan on fulfilling these requirements before the end of this Certificate Degree.

    If the student does not meet the criteria required, their enrollment will become null and no paid fees will be returned to them.

    Professional Opportunities

    Apart from the Master's Degree in Welding and Joining Technologies, Students who sucessfully complete the Master's course and pass the ECOL exams to be held at La Fundacion Metal de Asturias for each module of the programme will also be awarded the "International Welding Engineer or Technologist Diplom" by the "International Institute of Welding" and the "European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting.

    The knoweledge, skills and abilities associated to this type of qualifications are increasingly being considered a contractual requirement, a trend that will even increase with the coming into force of the new European and international standards and regulations.

    The European standards (e.g. standard EN ISO 14731) already include in the regulations relating to the coordination of welding, the requirement that the management, control and manufacture of welded structures shall be carried out by individuals holding a technical degree and mention this type of qualifications.

    Syllabus

    This Master's course has a duration of 1800 hours distributed into two terms of 72 ECTS credits.

    First semester:

    Module – Subject I: Management skills for business efficiency (50 hours) , 2 credits.

    Module – Subject II: Mechanical joining of structural elements (62.5 hours), 2,5 credits.

    Module – Subject III: - Welding processes and equipment (400 hours), 16 credits.

    Module – Subject IV: : IWE – Materials and their behaviour in welding (300 hours), 12 credits

    Second semester

    Module – Subject V: IWE – Calculation and design of welded joints (175 hours), 7 credits.

    Module – Subject VI: IWE – Welding manufacture and applications (300 hours), 12 credits.

    Module – Subject VII: Applications in industrial manufacture, repair and maintenance (112.5 hours), 4.5 credits.

    Module VIII: Internships (150 hours), 6 credits.

    Module IX: Master's Project (250 hours), 10 credits.
