• The Second Conferences on Cooperation for Development weight the solidarity of the University of Oviedo

    Teachers and students presented the work they conduct in countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia and with social organizations in Asturias

    A moment of the inauguration ceremony of the Conferences.

    The University of Oviedo has celebrated its Second Conferences on Cooperation for Development to weight the activities that the academic institution conducts in countries of Latin America, Asia and Africa. The Rector, Vicente Gotor, was in charge of inaugurating the meeting, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies, Covadonga Betegón, and the director of the Office of Internationalization, Leticia Santos.

    Rosa Terradellas, Vice-Rector for Students, Cooperation and Equality of the University of Girona, was in charge of opening the meeting with a conference on the Current situation of university cooperation for development in Spain.

    Medicine, the improvmeent of education or the promotion of research in different areas of knowledge are the bases of the activities of the projects that different teachers from the University of Oviedo conduct in countries such as the Philippines, Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Etiopia or Angola.

    Apart from its international projects, the University of Oviedo has a Solidarity Space through which the collaboration with different social organizations is channeled, so that students can collaborate with them. The director of the Area of Social Projection, Marta Pérez Toral, explained the work that takes place in this initiative coordinated by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Students.

    Both the teachers and students that make up the different initiatives had the chance to present their personal experiences in different fields of cooperation.
