The University holds conferences on how the UN is run

Students from European and American universities debate about international affairs in a meeting inaugurated via teleconference by Federico Mayor Zaragoza
The University of Oviedo set in motion yesterday the OVImun 2013 international meeting, in which more than 70 students coming from a dozen of European and American universities, and accompanied by experts, will debate about international affairs, reproducing the way the UN is run. The meetings were inaugurated via teleconference by the ex-General Director of the UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza.
The delegates of the universities met yesterday at the Main Hall of the Historical Building of the University of Oviedo to start the meetings, inaugurated by the President of the General Council of the Principality of Asturias, Pedro Sanjurjo, and the Vice-Rector for Students, Luís Rodríguez Muñiz. The politician, diplomat and ex-General Director of the UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, contributed to the first session via teleconference, speaking about the concept of a worldwide economy based on market laws and declared himself to be against the richest and most powerful countries in the world having somehow usurped the place of the UN.
OVImun is an initiative led by students of Law of the University of Oviedo. The conferences have been organized with a strong collaboration between the University and different Asturian institutions, such as the City Hall of Oviedo, the General Council of the Principality of Asturias, the Illustrious College of Lawyers of Oviedo and the Attorney General of the Principality of Asturias.
Today's activities, both the committees and the General Assembly, have been taken place at the building of the General Council of the Principality of Asturias. The closing ceremony of the event is scheduled for tomorrow at 7 PM, at the Historical Building of the University, with the presence of the Director of the Area of Social Projection, Marta Pérez Toral, the Dean of Law, Benjamín Rivaya García, the President of the OVImun Association, Eloy Serrano ARce, and the General Director of the Association, José Ignacio Bernardo Iglesias.
