The University starts a cycle of films by Haneke as part of the acts of the Prince of Asturias Awards

The academic institution and the Prince of Asturias Foundation open a Cineforum, that will take to Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés the complete filmography of the director in projections free of charge, until maximum capacity is reached
The cycle of films by director Michael Haneke, organized by the Prince of Asturias Foundation in collaboration with the University of Oviedo, opens tomorrow the acts related to the 2013 Prince of Asturias Awards. 11 projections in double sessions in Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés will showcase the complete filmography of the director who was granted the Award for Arts and an Oscar in 2013.
The Cineforum begins with Time of the Wolf and Benny's Video at the Cultural Center of University Extension LAUDEO (Severo Ochoa Classroom), at 19:00 and 21:30. At the same time, in the Pumarín Gijón-Sur Center, Code Unknown and The Piano Teacher will be projected, and at the Niemeyer Center of Avilés, Funny Games and The Castle. Entrance to all the sessions, between October 14 and 22, will be free until maximum capacity is reached. The audience will also be able to enjoy live performances of works by J. S. Bach and F. Schubert featured in the films Amour and The Piano Teacher. The concerts will take place at the Filarmónica Theater, before the projection of the films, on October 15 and 16, at 20:00.
This ambitious exhibition of the complete filmography of the director born in Munich has the collaboration of the Town Councils of Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés, and of the Prince of Asturias Foundation.
The film cycle will end with a debate at each of the sites of the exhibition, which will be moderated by the professors of the University of Oviedo María Valvidares Suárez (Constitutional Law) and José Antonio Méndez Sanz (Philosophy). The ideas that come up during these meetings will be used in a tribute to the director that will take place at the Jovellanos Theater of Gijón on October, Wednesday 23 at 19:30.
The meeting with Haneke with be moderated by Hans Meinke, member of the Jury of the Prince of Asturias Award for Arts, and will feature Jordi Costa, film critic and writer; Margarita Blanco Hölscher, Professor of the Department of Anglo-German and French Philology of the University of Oviedo, and Jordi Balló, Professor of the Pompeu Fabra University, writer and film manager. The tribute to Haneke of October 23 is only accessible with an invitation and only places per person will be offered. Jovellanos Theater (Paseo de Begoña 11, Gijón).
