  • The University of Oviedo and HUNOSA extend their collaboration in matters of research

    The institution and the enterprise will develop joint projects related to geothermics and biomass, and will promote awards and scholarships for students

    The University of Oviedo signed today an agreement with HUNOSA to extend their collaboration in different fields. The Rector, Vicente Gotor, and the President of the state company, María Teresa Mallada, signed the framework agreement that will be developed in other three specific agreements focused on research, the HUNOSA Chair, and the the School of Mining, Energy and Materials Engineering of Oviedo.

    The Rector highlighted this agreement as an important step towards bring closer the University to the enterprise and to promote research, specially that related to geothermics and biomass. The President of HUNOSA explained that the collaboration in RDI will be focused specially on projects about energy efficiency, biomass, regasification and exploitation of the water pumped from mines to heat buildings and the forest biomass of the company as fuel. Moreover, the Classroom of Geothermics of the Campus of Mieres will also be promoted.

    In terms of the HUNOSA Chair, a specific agreement will be signed to resume the activities of the meetings, while the third line of collaboration will be centered on the funding of awards for PhD Theses and Undergraduate Theses for students. The signing of the agreement also had the presence of the Vice-Rector for Research and Campus of International Excellence, Paz Suárez Rendueles, and the general secretary of HUNOSA, Juan José Fernández.
