• The University of Oviedo presents its social programme in the Eurostudent international conference

    February 26, 2015

The Asturian institution is the only Spanish university selected to participate in the European conference on the social dimension of Higher Education held in Vienna

The University of Oviedo will be the only Spanish institution to take part in the Eurostudent conference, which will be held in Vienna from February 25 to 27, and it will analyse the social dimension of Higher Education. The Asturian academic institution has been selected to present two of its initiatives: the scholarship programme for students in urgent need and the study of the triggering elements and results that have an influence on dropouts.
The Eurostudent conference will share the results of a great project aimed at analysing and comparing the social and economic conditions of university students throughout Europe. More than 600 hundred experts will meet this week in Vienna. The conclusions reports are a reference point in order to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each country within the international analysis.
The University of Oviedo will be the only Spanish institution participating in this event. The Vice-Rector for Students, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz, will be in charge of giving the two lectures. The first lecture will be focused on describing the implementation and awarding criteria of the scholarship programme, which the University offers to students in urgent need, and with a double stipend compared to last year.
The second lecture will focus on the analysis developed by the Asturian institution to explain and monitor dropout cases, as well as the possible causes that have an influence on this result.
