  • The University of Oviedo opens the first edition of the Mobile Photography Contest

    The initiative, open to all the members of the university community, aims at promoting the use of new technologies and creativity in the field of image design. The deadline to present the photographies made with a mobile device will be on June 9.

    The University of Oviedo opens the first edition of the Mobile Photography Contest, aimed at all the members of the university community (students, Teaching and Research Staff, and Administrative Staff). This initiative seeks to promote the use of new technologies, develop creativity in the field of visual design and stimulate the capacity for environmental observation. People interested in participating in this contest may send one picture, taken with a mobile phone, until June 9, 2014.

    The academic institution has established four categories: University Life (studying, teaching, living together, leisure time); Buildings; Nature and landscapes, and Research. The photographies accepted into the contest will be uploaded to an Instagram account and three prizes will be awarded: a first prize of €250; a second prize of €150. and a third prize of €100. Moreover, there will be a People's Award, with a prize of €250, for the photography that gathers the most "Likes" in the profile "Extensionuniversitaria" of the photography social network.

    The Mobile Photography Contest of the University of Oviedo will value the creativity of the author of the image, which may not have been published before. The members of the university community who wish to participate in the contest must be active during the current academic year and the photographies submitted must have been taken during 2014. The images must be sent via e-mail to comunica@uniovi.es, with the guidelines and requirements established in the regulations, which have been published in the Official Journal of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA).
