The Goverment Council of the University of Oviedo has approved the offer of places for admission of students to its centers and Degrees during the 2014-2015 academic year. The Rector, Vicente Gotor, and the Vice-Rector for Students, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz, presented the main information on the process of access to university studies during the next academic year, when four new Degrees join the list of Degrees that have a maximum limit of access during the first year.

Software Engineering, with 150 places; Physics (55 places); Mathematics (35) and the Double Degree in Mathematics and Physics (60 places) establish a numerus clausus. The Rector and the Vice-Rector for Students explained that this measure is due to the impossibility of hiring new teachers and other limitations imposed by the premises to host more students.

In total, 20 Undergraduate Degrees have restricted access. The students who wish to enroll in these Degrees will have to pre-register and, afterwards, once they have been admitted, formalize their enrollment. The first phase of enrollment in centers with limited access will be open from June 16 to July 4, while the period of enrollment for students with direct access will be open from July 1 to August 22 (see more information in the Related Documents).

Moreover, after the meeting of the Government Council, the Rector said that the University will once again propose that the Principality freezes the fees for first enrollment for the third year in a row, a decision that must be taken by the regional Government.
