The Governing Council of the University of Oviedo has approved this Tuesday its manual of corporate identity that settles the official graphical representation of the seal of the Asturian institution. The seal is based on an almost-perfect reproduction of the the coat of arms on the main wall (dating from the 7th century) of the Main Hall of the University and unifies the variety of versions that had been coexisting up until now in the different university bodies.
Rector Vicente Gotor and the Vice-Rector for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez, described the new manual of corporate identity, which aims at transmitting an homogenous and unified corporate identity using a precise set of form, shape and colors in its seal. For this work, a historical research was conducted and the variants of the coat of arms of the Valdés-Salas family have been unified. Moreover, the Council agreed to centralize in the Publication Service the management and production of official printing materials of all the bodies and entities that compose the University, in order to ensure that the institutional image is maintained throughout the process, as well as to reduce production costs.
The Governing Council has also approved, among other affairs, the partial modification of the Roster of Posts for the Administrative Staff. The Rector presented the new website to the members of the Council, more modern and easier to navigate, which follows on the footsteps of the main international universities. One of the new features of the website is that it is divided into two zones: a public one, aimed at providing information on the activity of the University, and a private one, whose access is restricted to members of the university community. It is in the Intranet where they will be able to find all the relevant information for them, curated by profiles, and where they will be able to access their e-mail, the Virtual Campus and the rest of the on-line services.
