  • The Incubator of Surveys and Experiments awards projects on artificial intelligence and the electricity bill

    Students from the IES Nº1 of Gijón and the IES Galileo Galilei of Navia will go to the national phase of the contest, which will take place at the University of Granada on July 2-3

    Two projects on artificial intelligence and the electricity bill will represent Asturias at the national phase of the contest named Incubator of Experiments and Surveys, organized by the University of Oviedo, through its Department of Statistics and Operative and Didactic Research on Mathematics. The finals of the contest, which took place at the Main Hall of the Historical Building, resulted in the victory of the project entitled Multiple Intelligences. We are all intelligent, composed by students of the IES Nº1 of Gijón. The project will represent Asturias at the national phase, in the category of students between the first and fourth year of Secondary Education (ESO). The IES Galileo Galilei of Navia and their project The Electricity Bill will represent Asturias in the category of students from the Baccalaureate and Formative Cycles.

    The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, and the Director of Professional Education, Curricular Development and Innovation in Education of the Principality of Asturias, Sara Álvarez Morán, gave the awards to the winners, alongside the Director of the Department of Department of Statistics and Operative and Didactic Research on Mathematics, Manuel Montenegro. The Rector used the ceremony to encourage these students to continue on the path of research and teamwork. The General Director thanked the teachers for their involment and dedication in these type of activities outside of school hours.

    The national phase of the contest will take place at the University of Granada on July 2-3. The Principality will compete with teams from other seven autonomous communities. The University of Oviedo achieved exceptional results last year, winning in the category of ESO students and reaching the finals with its Baccalaureate team.
