The exhibition titled ARENA. Un paseo por las playas de Asturias opens today at the exhibition hall of the LAUDEO Cultural Center for University Extension (Historical Building) and proposes to the visitors a tour through more than one hundred Asturian beaches by means of their sands. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Rector, Vicente Gotor, who was accompanied by the stewart of the exhibition, Luis Miguel Rodríguez Terent; the Dean of the Faculty of Geology, Lope Calleja, and the Director of the Department of Geology, Carlos López.

ARENA: Un paseo por las playas de Asturias will be open to visitors free of charge until May 30 at the exhibition hall of the Historical Building. The opening hours are from Monday to Friday, between 11:00 to 14:00 and between 17:00 to 20:30, and on Saturdays between 10:00 and 13:00. Entrance is free for everyone.

The main objective of the exhibition is to let the visitors delve into the very diverse types, forms and colors of the sands that make up our beaches, also letting them know and imagine their origin, constantly associated to the action of rivers and the sea on the rocks of the environment, without forgetting the unavoidable human intervention. Visitors will be able to appreciate, in broad terms, how each grain of sand tells us a story.
