    Access Requirements:

    Being in possession of an official University Degree. Nevertheless, exceptionally, admission will be extended to professionals directly related to to the speciality of the course who lack a Degree, as long as they prove their professional careers and meet the legal criteria to access University courses.

    Please check the Agreement of November 29, 2007 of the Governing Council of the University of Oviedo, which approves the regulation of studies leading to Certificate Degrees and other Postgraduate Degrees (BOPA, January 12, 2008).

    Admission Requirements:

    Graduates in Medicine with the speciality in Ophthalmology and at least one year of experience in pathology of the anterior segment of the eye, with a high command of English and knowledge of research methodologies.

    Professional Opportunities

    The ophthalmologist will be self-sufficient in the management of pathologies likely to be treated with additive surgery of the cornea.

    Syllabus

    The course is organized into 9 months to complete 60 ECTS credits.

    MODULE 1

    Keratoconus and corneal ectasia: prevention, biological diagnosis. Biomarkers. Diagnostic image analysis. Corneal innervation. Study of the eye surface. Differential diagnosis.

    MODULE 2

    Additive surgery of the cornea: physical and biological basis. Patient selection. Indications, contraindications, expected results and risks. Instrumentation. Graduation, topography, anterior segment analysis. Therapeutic tools. Femtosecond laser.

    MODULE 3

    Orthopedic and refractive objectives. Combined surgery. Keratoplasty.

    MODULE 4

    Research project under the supervision of an academic tutor.
