• Presentation of the National Research awards in the field of Sports Medicine

    The prize winners will give some lectures about the winning works.

    Next Friday, 18th of March, at 13:00h, the Assembly Hall of the Historic Building will be the scenario for the presentation of the National Research Prizes in the field of Sports Medicine, which will award the best three research works in this sphere.

    "Metabolitos de plastificantes en orina, claves para la detección de transfusiones" (Plasticizer metabolites in urine, essential keys for the detection of blood transfusions) is the title of the work awarded with the first prize, it has been developed by a group of the Parc de Salut Mar Biomedical Research Institute (Barcelona) in collaboration with some German university centres. The second prize has been given to the study "El entrenamiento crónico induce un perfil saludable de biomarcadores geriátricos emergentes en varones mayores de 65 años", (The chronic exercise training induces to a healthy profile in elderly biomarkers which emerge in older than 65- year-old males), carried out by the Department of Morphology and Cellular Biology belonging to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oviedo, the Department of Health of the Principality of Asturias and the Geriatric Service of the Monte Naranco Hospital in Oviedo. Finally, the work whose title is "Entrenamiento de fuerza tradicional vs entrenamiento con estimulación neuromuscular mecánica en plataforma vibratoria en niños con parálisis cerebral" (Traditional Strength training vs. training with mechanical neuromuscular stimulation in vibrating platforms aimed at children with cerebral palsy), developed by the European University of Madrid, the Niño Jesús Hospital for children and the University Alfonso X el Sabio, will collect the third prize.

    The award winners will give some conferences about these works from the 16:00 h in the Cultural Auditorium of Cajastur (C/San Francisco, 4 de Oviedo) from the 16:00 h.
