  • The professor Juan Vázquez will chair the ANECA's Advisory Council

    This body is in charge of preserving the relations with national, European and international agencies for the evaluation of the university quality.

    The professor of Applied Economy from the University of Oviedo, Juan Vázquez, has been appointed as president of the Advisory Council of the ANECA (National Agency for the evaluation of Quality and Accreditation) due to a proposal of the ministry of Education, Ángel Gabilondo.

    The National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA) is a state foundation whose main purpose is to contribute to the improvement of the higher education system's quality through the evaluation, certification and accreditation of teachings, teaching staff and institutions.

    The Advisory Council, which will be supervised by Juan Vázquez- rector of the University of Oviedo between 2000 and 2008 and president of the Conference of Rectors from Spanish Universities from 2003 to 2007-, is composed by 15 national and foreign personalities known by their prestige in the academic and social spheres. Among its functions, the Council has to inform about the procedures, actions and running of the ANECA, report about the methodology and procedures for the evaluation and accreditation, channel the proposals which are sent by the universities and public and private institution in this field and maintain the relations with national, European and international agencies for the evaluation of university quality.
